Re: SUU game
I believe Brock was the heavyweight state champion for wrestling. Jordan was, as was Jared. Creed wrestled, but I don't remember if he was a state champ. Nathan wrestled for Timpview and did well in state, but was not state champion. Nate was the leading tackler in Utah his senior year ... he's now on a mission, but probably to small to play at BYU. The baby of the family is 14 years old, and may be the biggest ... he's an athletic beast.

Re: SUU game
Great story about Creed and his family legacy. I sat with Spiff and we cheered him on. Glad he could make his father even more proud today. Epitome of Loyal, Strong, and True!

Re: SUU game
I was glad to see Detmer actually let Mangum run the offense. I also like how he brought Mangum in early. In the post game Sitake said he brought him before "the plan" called for it because Detmer wanted to see how Mangum would react to be thrown into the game.
Mangum was probably thinking he'd play the 2nd half, I like how he performed. I the coaches finding ways to test him even in a game that was never in doubt.

I think it was pretty clear that the coaches were correct in their assessment that Taysom Hill gave the Cougars the best chance to win the games early in the schedule. Now of course it doesn't matter as even Detmer should be able to beat the teams remaining on the schedule.

Not sure I agree. But it doesn't matter at this point. I think it was also clear that the rumors that Tanner is just lost in the offense and doesn't know what to do, were just false. You don't go 11-13 against any opponent if you have no idea where the ball is supposed to go or what the plays are.hawkwing wrote:I think it was pretty clear that the coaches were correct in their assessment that Taysom Hill gave the Cougars the best chance to win the games early in the schedule. But I also didn't see anything that made me think it was the WRONG call to name Taysom the starter. I just don't think there was a wrong decision to be made.

Re: SUU game
I hadn't heard, or if I had given any serious consideration to the idea that Tanner was lost in this offense. Though he looked a few steps behind where Taysom was at the start of the year, he still did impress with his later passing and scrambles once he settled in. He'll be pretty good next year, if the offensive line improves.SpiffCoug wrote:Not sure I agree. But it doesn't matter at this point.
