BYU vs Opponent Averages

Post by SpiffCoug »

The sample size is still very small as I'm just comparing the BYU game to the opponents' other game played, but it is time for us start to look at how BYU is doing against opponent averages!

For those of you who are new to Cougar Corner, each week, I'll post how BYU performed against the averages of our opponents. In calculating the average, I am removing the BYU game from the opponent's average. So when you see Utah with a 0 point defensive scoring average in my post and then go look and see Utah is giving up 9.5 points, that because I'm not counting the BYU game.

This is, in theory, giving us an idea of how well BYU is playing against teams. Rushing for 150 yards, which is a fairly decent amount, against a team that gives up 110 is much better than rushing for 150 yards against a team that gives up 190.

So he were go!

BYU held Arizona 15 points below their scoring offense average (31).
