Question-BYU OL
A while back there was a lineman that was had a sure NFL career. However he refused to play on Sundays and would not go. What was his name? I want to say that he played with John Tait but I could be wrong. He might had been drafted in the first round. Any help?

Re: Question-BYU OL
He was drafted by the Raiders. In fact, a few years later, his little brother Isaac was brought in to camp as a free agent. Al Davis told Isaac to tell Eli that Eli owed the Raiders money because he cost them a wasted draft pick that they could have used on someone else. Isaac told Mr. Davis that he should have believed Eli wasn't going to play. That Eli was a man of his word and that he doesn't owe him anything.

Re: Question-BYU OL
He is a high school teacher and coaches on his high school team. There was an article in the paper about him a few weeks ago. I can't remember which utah paper and don't remember how long ago. I think the school he is at is one of the utah county ones.scott715 wrote:Do you know what he does now? Did he go into coaching?

BTW, to prevent the myth from going too much farther, Herring was drafted in the 6th round, not the 1st.
He was projected as a 1st round pick, but the Raiders didn't take him until the 6th round because of refusal to play.
