Basically, we can win the "big games" now and again but, most of the time, we don't. So, the argument is, we go the proven scheduling route by Utah, Boise State, Hawaii, and TCU in the past - we don't play many big games during the season but "strategically schedule" our regular season and then prep for the "big game/big opponent" when it really counts - in a BCS game after we've gone undefeated.
On paper, next year's schedule looks exciting but it's hard to deny we've over-scheduled. The excitement about the schedule won't last if and when we start losing again and again. Exposure is important and that takes quality opponents. But exposure doesn't mean much if you're losing.
