Re: Tanner Mangum accepts minicamp invitations to Raiders and Lions

Good for Tanner. I'm happy he has this opportunity. Hoping he kills it!

Re: Ty'Son Williams transfers to BYU

This is helpful. Our run game isn't going to be anything special this year, but these transfers will make it serviceable to the point where teams can't sell out against the pass. It'll force teams to play honest. I think the quality of the September schedule will still give BYU its usual 1-3 start, ...

I don't know why he'd go from an assistant at an NBA team to an assistant at BYU.

Re: White smoke seen coming from the Marriott Center - Pope named

Knowing that Pope won't stay in Provo long if he's successful, I hope UVU picks up Madsen (Mark might be interested b/c the writing's on the wall in LA and Orem would put him close to his new son's 4 grandparents). That way when Pope leaves, Madsen would have the D1 experience needed to do well with...

Re: White smoke seen coming from the Marriott Center - Pope named

I agree. I was hoping for Madsen but I think Pope will do well. Looks like the other conversations he was having in Minnesota during Final Four weekend didn't pan out as he'd hoped

Nice thread title, btw!

Re: Dave Rose retiring, press conference today

Both of them chose blue chip schools over BYU (Madsen to Stanford; Pope to Kentucky). If I were the AD, one of my interview questions would be to give me your pitch to a blue chip recruit that would entice him to chose the path that you did not: Coming to BYU over other options.

Re: Yoeli Childs - Is he going?

On BYU Sports Nation he said he and his wife went to the temple and felt they should move forward on the draft. On paper, I don't think this is the right move, but I respect him for going about the decision the right way, and I respect the answers he feels he received. Nothing but good wishes for Yo...

Re: Spring Game

Sorry that this got turned into a Mangum v Wilson thread. My point is that I believe that knowing that Wilson was a viable alternative coming out of of Fall Camp contributed (but was not the sole cause of) Mangum losing the confidence of the staff when there were the predictable struggles during the...

Re: Yoeli Childs - Is he going?

That's an interesting point. I would wager that because BYU has a higher rate of married players and have families they need to provide for that there is a higher rate of BYU players leaving early to go play in Europe or Israel. It's money on the table for them. Maybe, if they're hyper-discounting ...

Re: Spring Game

I wonder whether there will be competition for the starting spot in the Fall. Hall seem like he's that good. I realize Zach just threw a perfect game his last time out, but surgery and an off season can change things. Is it worth the coaches opening up that can of worms? There should be a competiti...
