Re: Football not #1 on Joe Paterno's priority list?
I agree with blueisbetter. JoPa knew that the AD and staff person with oversight over campus security had a tremendous interest to keep the situation quiet. When no charges, or official investigation (i.e., grand jury) came of it, JoPa must have realized they were covering it up. Of course he had t...

Re: Big 12 Discussing adding 2 more teams
Really? Of all the topics to hijack a thread with, the content of caffiene in a chocolate bar. What does this have to do with the Big 12?

Re: Football not #1 on Joe Paterno's priority list?
I find it interesting that people who knew Jo Pa personally are not judging him so harshly. Lavelle Edwards being one of them. I just can't judge a person's entire character by one lack of action. Kind of goes by the "by their fruits ye shall know them" Jo Pa spent a lifetime of living hon...

Re: Football not #1 on Joe Paterno's priority list?
So, we read a few media reports and pronounce judgement. Discount a lifetime of positive influence from a person with one mistake? I am sure glad that I don't have to stand in judgement by some of you at the final judgement. No one here knows what was in Jo Pa's head, or what he was thinking but rea...

I allowed myself to get excited about this last fall. I will not fall into that trap again.jonnylingo wrote:I honestly am uninterested. I have little reason to believe any of this and am completely numb about it. if it happens i will celebrate but i have little faith that it will happen.

Re: Big 12 Discussing adding 2 more teams
If we go Big 12 - recruiting will definitely improve - we will expand our geographical footprint and would not only have a better chance of landing top flight LDS recruits within our current geographical recruiting area: UT, Cal/Pacific NW, ID, CO, AZ, TX but also drawing LDS recruits that want to ...

Re: Big 12 Discussing adding 2 more teams
it is obvious that BYU will have to improve recruiting. We are going to have to reschedule a lot of OOC games if we go to a conference like the Big 12 to balance a difficult schedule. like utah learned, you have to up your game by a lot to compete in a difficult conference. Oh, by the way, if BYU ha...

Especially since they had no problem working with BYU to broadcast the OSU game last year.hawkwing wrote:The inside sources I want to know about have to do with Fox Sports and why they are so adamantly opposed to having BYU join the league.

Re: Pitta, Poppinga, Keisel, Collie top ex-Cougs in NFL
30 NFL teams, with rosters of 53 each (45 active, 8 on reserve squad). That totals 1.590 NFL players per year. Of those, only 13 were from BYU. As a point of reference for programs we might compare ourselves to, Boise State had 15, BC had 20, Utah had 21, UCLA had 20. Nevada-Reno had 10. UNC had 26...
