Community Economic Benefit of P5 Status

The AD and President of Baylor went and testified before the Texas legislature about the impact of Texas' move to the SEC and the (very real) fear that this move could cost other Texas universities their P5 status. One of the interesting things that came out of their testimony was the claim of how l...

Re: NIL at BYU

BYU is requiring the athletes to submit their agreements etc. to BYU for review before signing. "In order for us to best assist you, all student-athletes must have NIL agreements reviewed by the athletics administration prior to engaging in the NIL activity. Disclosure forms are enclosed in thi...

Re: The Future of College Football Playoffs.

So, BYU's only path to the playoff is a #12 ranking or better -- based on recent years, I think they would have to be #8 or higher.

Re: Rush 3 Defense

It worked this year because BYU's offense scored, pretty much, everytime they had the ball. Lets see what happens now that Zach Wilson is in the NFL. I am still not sold. This may have some truth to it. One of the more prominent 3-man-front defenses I can remember were the Colts defenses during Pey...

Re: The latest on Wyatt Lowell

Yoeli gave credit to Lowell as the one guy that pushed him the hardest in practices during Lowell's RS year, and I was really looking forward to Lowell on the court. He also seemed to be one of the guys Pope was most enthusiastic about. He had an injury bug that kept him sidelined, but the transfer ...

Haarms Gone?

BYU has started offering scholarships to big men in the transfer portal, and one offeree (Dusan Mahorcic) said that he was told by BYU coaches that Haarms will not be in Provo next season. https://www.vanquishthefoe.com/2021/5/6/22423177/illinois-state-transfer-dusan-mahorcic-byu-basketballffer-upda...

I may be in a small minority, but I thought Haarms was a liability against Gonzaga and UCLA.

Re: NCAA on verge of transfer rule change

So, does "transfer and compete immediately" mean exactly that? At the end of the 2021 regular CFB season, can a top CB from West Virginia transfer to Alabama for classes starting January 2022, and then play in the CFB playoff for the Crimson Tide in the same season (albeit the postseason) ...

Re: Gonzaga

I'm not going to blame the committee for UCLA's seeding. They got drubbed by SDSU, needed OT to put away Pepperdine for it's best non-conference win of the season and then got drubbed by USC in early February, followed that with a loss to mighty Wazzou, and finally limped into the tournament as one ...
