Re: Beau Hoge out for the rest of the season.
Here's my depth chart if I'm BYU head coach right now. 1. Critchlow 2. KDJ 3. Kafentzis 4. Kaufusi, Corbin 5. Anyone not named Wilstead Makes zero sense to put Wilstead in if he's the best QB and there is only 2 games left in the current season. Don't play the kid. This scenario shows the value of ...

Re: BYU favored over UMass
With the home team usually getting minus three, they are basically saying it is a toss up. I agree with the odds makers. UMASS gave Mississippi State a good game, losing away 34-23. They played much better against them than we did. This game is not the gimmee it was in the past. Since it as at home,...

Re: Beau Hoge out for the rest of the season.
If I am Wilstead, I want a chance to prove myself in a game as well, because otherwise it may be tough to unseat Critchlow or Mangum in Spring Camp. Fans want players not to burn their red shirts. Players want to play and prove themselves (not that they are hoping for other Qbs to be injured).

Re: Joe Critchlow getting the start tonight
It looked like the same offense to me, but instead of forcing the ball to primary reads, Critchlow was making progressions and not staring down receivers. As Bear Bryant used to say, its not the Xs and Os, but the Jimmys and Joes that make the difference...in this case one Joe Critchlow.

Re: Joe Critchlow getting the start tonight
It is amazing what happens when you have a pro style QB in a pro style offense. All of a sudden the O line and receivers look much better. The running game looks better. The OC looks like he knows how to call plays. Conversions from spread to pro are always a gamble, but I have been waiting to see w...

Re: Poll: I honestly believe Kalani Sitake is ______
I put down I don't know. The first season we saw success. This season has been terrible. Compound that with the off the field issues coming to light, and I am just not sure he is the right guy for the job. I put I don't know, because I am waiting to see how he responds. Does he make coaching changes...

Re: Does anyone get fired this week? If so, who?
I was on the patience wagon too. But I think Mangum is actually worse than Heaps. Heaps at least beat poor teams. If I were Kanani, I would demote Tuiaki to Linebackers coach and call the defense myself. The defensive play calling has been atrocious. I would move Kaufusi back to D-line, you know, wh...

Re: QB Leash
My guess is the Hoge is gone. His dad was very vocal about concussions, and he may have decided it just isn't worth it. Time will tell. I also guess that Detmer Jr. will never play another snap...barring injury to Mangum and Critchlow. I agree that you don't throw Critchlow to the wolves in Missippi...

Re: Article: Money is Killing BYU Football
Lavell was 7-4 then 5-6. Everyone seems to think is was the other way around. Kalani and Ty are trying to create a program not just win now and pay in the long run (see GC 2001-2004). We need to support our coaches and give them the time and opportunity to build up the program. In another Lavell wa...
