Re: Report: Grimes New OC

I'm optimistic about this hire. Oline is where we lose the most from graduating players, but have some promising recruits and transfers. Grimes could make a big difference there in helping the replacements step up and fill the void. Grimes has extensive P5 experience. He's been on coaching staffs an...

Re: Jeff Chatman No Longer a BYU Fan

By the way, now that missionaries are leaving home in droves at 18, without much more than a camping trip marking the time longest spent away from home depression/home sickness/anxiety are going to be big issues in the future. More kids are going to come home, and we have to prepare ourselves to be...

Re: Jeff Chatman No Longer a BYU Fan

Dave Rose's policy on missions is clear. You commit to go or not to go during recruitment and if you change your mind, he reminds you of your commitment and asks to to hold to it. If you go against what you had originally committed to do, you don't get preferential treatment. Coming home early is a...

I saw somewhere today that BYUs SOS ended up being 79. I don't remember which service it was, but that's not good.
It's better than the offense....hence 4-9

Re: What would BYU's record have been had they played the season in reverse?

I am mystified why people think our record would be that different? Until guys catch the ball, make the blocks, fill the gaps, practice hard, call the right plays, make the throws, no reordering of our schedule will result in a different WL record Easy. Injuries. And the discipline stuff. Wouldn't ...

Re: What would BYU's record have been had they played the season in reverse?

I seriously think we start the season 5-0, but the games are much closer than most predicted. But, most of the team is healthy and in a good rhythm. But then, we lose to ECU on the road in a close game...that starts a three game slide with Mississippi St. and Boise St. losses. We rebound with a clos...

Re: Harmon: TY was a scapegoat

Top 60 Defense in yards/points vs Top 120 Offense in yards/points is hardly comparable, statistically. If we had an offense that finished in the top 70-100 in most categories, the team would be preparing for a bowl game 3 weeks away. That would likely translate to the win over UMass and at least on...

Re: Dick Harmon on Rise and Fall of BYU Athletics

BYU should not return to the MWC. But, Fresno St. is ranked this week despite only beating BYU (4-9) by 7 points at home. Why? Because they beat Boise St. and SDSU on the way to play for a conference championship. BYU would benefit greatly from a conference affiliation. It's not just the conference ...

Re: 2016 BYU Coaching Staff

I think Sitake and Detmer are safe for now. They'll get one more year to perform. I also don't think Sitake will let Tuiaki go. Is what it is. BUT, I'd like to see Kaufusi move back to dline - which would move Tuiaki back to linebackers. And, isn't the 2018 season where the NCAA will allow an additi...
