Re: Good Wins and Bad Losses
I analyzed our football schedules going back to 1998 (because that's as far back as Sagarin ratings go) for "good wins" and "bad losses." I defined these as teams that finished the season in the top 35 as good wins and teams that finished outside the top 75 as bad losses. I used...

Re: Kalani Extended through 2023
...and losing at home to UMASS and other dregs of the FBS, in other words, losing games we just don't lose. That's not unique to Sitake's tenure. The Bronco days had those games too. Nevada (twice), San Jose State, Tulsa But the most disappointing loses were when they SHOULD have performed much bet...

Re: Kalani Extended through 2023
I am encouraged by Kalani's ability to win games that we don't normally win. Before Kalani, BYU lost 13 straight in road games against P5 teams that finish with a winning record. Kalani lost his first two before beating Wisconsin. Wisconsin marked only the 2nd BYU road win vs. a P5 that finished wit...

Re: Offense
ARod is calling plays "Aaron Roderick’s debut calling plays from the booth bore some remarkable fruits. Sure, offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes was on the sideline — and had a hand in some play-calling duties — but the Cougars busted open the playbook unlike any previous game, especially in the...

Re: Kalani must win out.
8-5 this year is fine for me. Toledo is probably going to win 9 games or more. Go look at BYU history to see how many times BYU went on the road to beat teams good enough to win 9 or more games. Zero wins in the last decade. 3 wins in the last 20 years. 5 wins in the last 30 years. Losing to Toledo ...

Re: California Gov. Gavin Newsom signs into law Fair Pay to Play Act
I love it. The reality is that you have to pay to play to be elite in either football or basketball under the current system. This won't change the dynamic unless the Ivy Leagues really wanted to get good at sports again. As long as athletes are going to class, I don't care how much they make outsid...

Re: Kalani Sitake ?
Maybe a small deviation from the original topic, but what is considered Sitake's best win? Has he beat a really great team? My vote would be at Wisconsin who finished the year 8-5 So one of the worst Wisc teams in recent history, however a decent team and at their house? I think you're probably rig...

Re: Kalani Sitake ?
The Tennessee win to me showed that 2017 isn't going to happen this year. Kalani remains perfect against bottom 1/3 P5 teams away from Provo. We had 7 such losses from 2000 to 2015. Lavell, Crowton, and Bronco all lost on the road to teams in BCS/P5 conferences that finished with 6 wins or fewer. La...
