Re: Utahns, how excited are you about Mitt Romney

The question is whether Trump is doing more good, or more harm. It's like getting a large loan now, but having to pay it back many times over later down the road. Many people can't seem to imagine that future costs matter, not when the current "spending" is so exciting. The Republican party mortgage...

Re: Smart gun laws

Abolish free public education? That would be the single worst thing our county had ever done. It would tank the economy, increase crime and violence, and eventually drop us down to a 2nd-world nation.

I guess semiauto weapons will keep American citizens safe from a rogue government coming after them with tanks and helicopters. Okay, no, that's silly.

You obviously never saw the movie "avatar"?

I never said we should ban dinosaurs.

Re: Utahns, how excited are you about Mitt Romney

Mitt accepting Trump's endorsement may be his worst flip-flop to date.

I guess semiauto weapons will keep American citizens safe from a rogue government coming after them with tanks and helicopters. Okay, no, that's silly. The Constitution is much like the Bible- Good, but fallible. It allowed slavery, people. It's not 100% gospel. That being said, again, limiting is n...

Re: Smart gun laws

Just for a comparison (not saying whether it is better or worse): In the UK, all semi-auto rifles have been banned since 1987. All pistols have been banned since 1996, with a 5-year jail sentence for violators. You need license to own a firearm or shotgun, and before you can get a license the gov se...

Re: Smart gun laws

The fact that the VA Tech shooter did not used an AR-15 is not an argument in my book for not banning assault weapons like the AR-15. And the fact that the Virginia Tech rampage happened years ago and nothing has happened is not because I am only now concerned. I have been concerned for a long time...

Re: Smart gun laws

I don't think banning semi-autos and "banning guns" are the same thing. As a regular citizen you don't need a semi-auto to defend yourself if you have a pistol and a shotgun.

Re: Smart gun laws

P.S. A friend of ours was the young women's teacher for 2 of the LDS girls that were shot in Florida. One was killed, one is still in the hospital with massive injuries. That's why I brought the topic up. If we could lower school shootings by even 1% with some simple changes (affecting less than 1% ...

Re: Smart gun laws

I don't know the answer, but there are lots of parts at play. I think discussing this subject is good, and contacting your local politicians is even better. I have no problem with banning all Auto and semiauto weapons, because there seems to be no legitimate public need for them. But that may be the...
